Hot Tub Rules & Safety Information
Relax and Enjoy Your Hot Tub Safely
The private hot tub at Galloway Farmstay Claunch is there for you to relax and enjoy during your stay.
Hot tubs do, however, involve hot water, moving water and water-treatment chemicals, so it is important that everyone using the hot tub follows these safety and hygiene rules.
Our hot tub is managed and monitored with regard to current Health and Safety Executive guidance for spa pools and hot tubs used in holiday accommodation.
Please read these rules before using the hot tub and make sure everyone in your party understands them.
Maximum Time in the Hot Tub – 15 Minutes
Do not remain in the hot tub for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Hot water raises body temperature and prolonged immersion can increase the risk of overheating (hyperthermia), dizziness, fainting and dehydration.
After 15 minutes, leave the hot tub and allow your body to cool down before considering another session.
If at any time you feel dizzy, faint, unwell, excessively hot or uncomfortable, leave the hot tub immediately.
Water Temperature
The hot tub water will not exceed 40°C.
Never attempt to alter or interfere with the hot tub's heating, filtration, chemical treatment or other equipment.
Health Conditions & Pregnancy
Hot tubs may not be suitable for everyone.
Seek appropriate medical advice before using the hot tub if you:
-
Are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
-
Have heart or circulatory problems.
-
Have high or low blood pressure.
-
Have diabetes or another health condition that could be affected by heat.
-
Have a weakened immune system or are immunosuppressed.
-
Are taking medication that may cause drowsiness or affect heart rate, blood pressure or circulation.
-
Have any other medical condition where exposure to hot water may present a risk.
Do not use the hot tub if you have an infectious illness, diarrhoea, vomiting, an open wound or another condition that could contaminate the water or place your health or the health of other guests at risk.
Children & the Hot Tub
Children under 4 years old must not use the hot tub.
Children who cannot keep their head comfortably above the water while sitting in the hot tub must also not use it.
All children using or anywhere around the hot tub must be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Never leave a child unattended in or around the hot tub, even for a short period.
Alcohol, Drugs & Medication
Do not use the hot tub while under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
Alcohol and some medications can increase drowsiness, affect judgement and increase the risks associated with overheating and drowning.
Anyone taking medication that causes drowsiness or affects circulation, blood pressure or heart rate should seek medical advice before using the hot tub.
Before Entering the Hot Tub
Please shower before every use.
This is important for maintaining clean and safe hot tub water.
Please remove:

-
Keep your head above the water.

Maximum immersion time is 15 minutes at a time.
-
Maximum occupancy is 4 people – one person per seat.
-
Never jump or dive into the hot tub.
-
Do not drink the hot tub water.
-
Do not sleep in the hot tub.
-
Do not use soap, shampoo, bubble bath or other products in the water.
-
Do not take glass bottles or glasses into or around the hot tub.
-
Keep electrical equipment safely away from the hot tub and water.
-
Take care when entering and leaving, as surrounding surfaces may be wet and slippery.
Water Hygiene & Testing
Hot tubs require careful management because warm, aerated water can support the growth of harmful microorganisms if it is not properly maintained.
Galloway Farmstay therefore carries out checks and treatment of the hot tub water as part of our water-safety procedures.
A member of staff may need to access the hot tub during your stay to check water quality and chemical levels and make any necessary adjustments.
This is an important safety measure.
Please do not interfere with the filtration system, suction fittings, chemical treatment, controls or other equipment.
If you notice anything unusual about the water or operation of the hot tub, stop using it and contact us.
Hot Tub Cover
Please replace and secure the hot tub cover whenever the hot tub is not being used.
Never stand, sit, jump or place heavy objects on the cover.
Always use the handles provided when moving the cover and never lift or drag it using the locking straps.
Pets
Pets are not permitted in the hot tub or immediately around the hot tub area.
Evening Use
Please respect the stated hot tub operating hours and our neighbours and other people in the surrounding area.
The hot tub must not be used after 11pm.
Please keep noise to a reasonable level, particularly during the evening.
Damage & Contamination
Please treat the hot tub and its equipment with care.
Guests may be responsible for reasonable costs arising from damage caused by misuse or contamination resulting from prohibited substances such as soap, shampoo, oils, fake tan or other products being introduced into the water.
If something is accidentally damaged or enters the water, please tell us immediately. Early notification may help us prevent further damage and restore the water safely.
